If you ask me which information products will elevate your credibility more quickly and effectively, my answer is “a book.”
A book is a product that positions you as an expert and specialist. If the book’s content is outstanding, other instructors will swiftly get hold of it, and you will become a go-to authority. Thus, writing a book is a phenomenal method to demonstrate to a broad audience that you possess helpful and valuable knowledge.
A book is the only product that’s not easily duplicated. If someone purchases it and wants to acquire it for 100 employees of their organization, there is no cost-effective option other than buying 100 copies of your book. The low price of the book makes it easier for people to purchase it to learn more about you and read sections of it. If they find it beneficial, they easily place trust in you and seek your more expensive products and services.
Elite Instructors’ Strategy
An overall strategy among elite instructors is to use the book as a marketing tool and try to distribute thousands of copies at the lowest price. Then, they offer the book’s readers the opportunity to buy more comprehensive and pricier educational products. I will explain more about this in chapter six.
Making your Book a Bestseller
Another point that many instructors need to be aware of is that making your book a bestseller is primarily up to you! Never assume that the publisher, bookstores, or others will strive to sell your book. It’s you who can decide if your book becomes a bestseller. The sale happens before the book is printed! To become a bestseller, you must pay attention to content, title, layout, etc. Additionally, you need to engage in professional marketing.
As mentioned, I sold 3,000 copies of my first book in less than five months. At that time, very few people knew me; however, things like creating small free tutorials from the book’s content, creating a free e-book from the material, etc., helped even people who didn’t know me to purchase the book.
It may be daunting and exhausting if you have never written a book. But it’s not that hard. There’s a trick in writing a book that will make your job easier. Good books are not written in order, meaning you don’t have to first think about what to write in the introduction, then chapter one, etc. The order in which you write content is not essential. For instance, if you want to write a book about goal setting, you can write down anything that comes to mind and gradually develop it. Of course, if you proceed step by step, I will introduce a precise algorithmic method for writing a book in chapter four.
