Leveraging Old Content

Do you feel like you’re stuck in a perpetual cycle of brainstorming new post ideas? It’s time to stop reinventing the wheel. Revisiting and reposting your past high-performing content can be a smart strategy to minimize stress and maximize engagement.

Why You Should Consider Reposting

Reposting is more than just a shortcut; it’s about leveraging existing content that has already proven successful. As surprising as it might seem, reposted content often outperforms its initial post. Don’t worry about your audiences feeling like they’ve seen it before — many probably won’t even remember, and those who do are the ones who appreciate your content the most. The data speaks
for itself: a week-long experiment, in which only reposted content was shared, resulted in impressive growth statistics – new followers increased by 244%, reach by 189%, and engagement by 178%.

How to Go About Reposting

Locating your old posts is simple. Just visit your Instagram profile, tap on the insights button at the top right corner, and filter the content based on type and time lengths. You can then choose from a plethora of options — stories, reels, or specific posts that resonated the most. Once selected, either download them from Insta using a site like SaveInsta.app or find them in your camera roll based on
the date.

The Art of Mixing and Matching

Though reposting unquestionably has its perks, it shouldn’t entirely replace your original content strategy. In my case, I follow the two-thirds rule, with 67% of my content being reposted, leaving ample room for new ideas and creativity. If you’re new to reposting, you might want to start with a more conservative approach; say, make a third of your monthly posts a mixture of 5 reposts and 5 recreations. This way, you’re preserving a healthy balance between novel and past content.

Incorporating AI for Fresh Ideas

Reposting is the perfect strategy for those days when your creative juices aren’t flowing. But what about when you need fresh ideas? This is where AI can come to the rescue. ChatGPT, the current go-to AI, helps with breaking through writer’s block.

To sum it up, reposting doesn’t indicate a lack of creativity but is a well-thought strategy that enhances engagement, offering you a breather while ensuring your brand continues to thrive. Learning to strike the right balance between new and reposted content can keep you ahead of the curve while optimizing growth.
